Azúcar! News – Week of October 15, 2012

Monday is news day on the Azúcar! Blog. Here are your latest school updates and news from around the Ottawa salsa scene.

This week, it’s all about the social dance events – because when it comes to learning salsa, social dancing is kind of the whole point. With that in mind, here’s where you need to be this week:

Studio Socials
Our FREE studio socials are going strong, and you don’t want to miss them! Every Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 9pm, we are opening our studio to all dancers who want to practice their moves or just need their salsa fix.

We’re providing the floor, music, and help if you need it. Bring your dance shoes and let’s have some fun!

Rahim’s 5th Anniversary
This Friday, Ottawa’s favourite weekly salsa social is celebrating its 5th anniversary, with a party to remember! Come for a great night of dancing, lots of shows, draws for awesome prizes, and CAKE! More details about the event here.

In honour of Rahim’s 5th anniversary, Azúcar! Latin Dance Company is also holding its first ever Official Student Outing! We’re meeting on Friday at 6:30pm at Elgin & Somerset, then heading down to Sir John A Pub for a pre-dance snack and/or drink before heading to Rahim’s at 8pm, when Jeff and Ana will teach a beginner-friendly workshop to get the night started! More details about the outing here.

Our teachers will be around most of the night (look for the folks in the Azúcar! shirts) so if you ever have a question or need a dance partner, come say hi!

More salsa? Yes, please!
For more dance events in Ottawa and Gatineau, check out the Salsa à la carte blog. Special shout-out and thank-you to Noris del Valle for this weekly update of local salsa happenings!
