What makes Azúcar! special – Special workshops take your dancing to new heights

This is the third post in our What makes Azúcar! special series. We’ve already covered our Intro to Salsa packages, and our regular classes and workshops. However, we know there are dancers out there who are looking for even more.

With this in mind, I’d like to talk to you today about our…

Special Workshops

Ottawa has a great community of salsa dancers beyond the intermediate level, and who are looking to spice up their dancing with new styles or even new types of dance. We’ve got you covered! We are working with an amazingly talented group of dancers to take your moves to the next level by incorporating elements from areas as diverse as reggaeton, yoga, t’ai chi, hip hop, belly dance and traditional Latin American dances!

Special workshops will be multiple-week courses that do require registration as well as some dance experience to get the most out of your classes. They could range from 5 to 12 weeks in length, and their price will be determined  by the length as well as the level of the class.

Always know what you’re getting yourself into!

We realise that committing to a 12-week class can be daunting, which is why before every special workshop we offer, we will hold two Trial Classes. These trial classes will be payable by class cards, just like our regular classes and workshop, and will offer a flavour of what you will learn in the full class. If you like what you see, you have the option to register, but there is no obligation!

Now taking registration!

If I’ve done this right, some of you are now curious to see what special workshops we have on offer right now.

I am so glad you asked! We have two amazing workshops by Emilie Pheneuf starting soon, which are sure to amp up any lady’s style (gentlemen, we’ll have something special for you soon!) . Here’s what we’ve got in store:

Ladies’ Styling by Emilie Phaneuf
Course dates: Oct 2 – Dec 4 (10 sessions), 6:30–7:30pm
Trial classes: September 18 and 25, 6:30-7:30pm
Location: Ottawa Arts Court, ODD Studio A

Price: $150 (tax included)

This 10-week course will help you develop dance technique to increase self-expression, musicality, elegance and finesse.  We will focus on shines, body movement, spins, body isolations and hand styling to unleash your inner dancing diva.

Reggaeton by Emilie Phaneuf
Course dates: Oct 2 – Dec 4 (10 sessions), 8:00–9:00pm
Trial classes: September 18 and 25, 8:00–9:00pm

Reggaeton is a fusion of Hip Hop/Reggae movements with Latino rhythms. It is a free style that is sensual, energetic & fun. This class will emphasize body isolations focusing on core strength & movement, and will teach you a combination of hot moves and an energetic routine that will give you a great workout – and make you more confident on the dance floor.
